Portugal 2-0 North Macedonia
Portugal qualified for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar with a 2-0 win over North Macedonia in Porto on Tuesday night, thanks to a Bruno Fernandes brace.
The visitors' strong start promised a difficult evening for the Selecao, but in reality, the historic event only looked to be going Portugal's way as they took control early and overcame spirited opposition to secure their sixth successive World Cup appearance.
Prior to the game, Cristiano Ronaldo described it as a 'life and death' situation, but he was found wanting with the game's first clear-cut chance handed to him on a silver platter.
Despite North Macedonia's apparent calm and confidence, the hosts appeared to have the best chance of scoring first. When Otavio placed him clean through on goal, Ronaldo could only drag his shot wide of the far post.
Despite the visitors' grit and determination, the game-winner came from a shady defensive decision shortly after the half-hour mark.

Poland 2-0 Sweden
With a 2-0 win over Sweden in their World Cup play-off, Poland secured their place in Qatar 2022. The hosts won their first match against the Swedes since 1991 thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski and Piotr Zielinski in the second half.
In a tense and at times furious first half, both teams had chances, but Wojciech Szczesny of Poland made a wonderful stop from Emil Forsberg's low drive, while Robin Olsen of Denmark kept out Jan Bednarek's fantastic volley at the other end.
After the halftime, replacement Grzegorz Krychowiak, who had only been on the field for a few minutes, was fouled in the area by Jesper Karlstrom, breaking the deadlock. The referee instantly signaled to the spot, and Lewandowski's cool penalty sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
Sweden fought back swiftly after falling behind, but despite their efforts, Szczesny made another outstanding stop from Forsberg when he sprinted over his line to block down to his right.
And the visitors were punished for failing to convert their chances, as they found themselves two goals down with 72 minutes remaining. Zielinski took advantage of a defensive blunder by rushing forward one-on-one with Olsen before neatly putting the ball into the net.
