Highlights

The hosts defied their lowly position in Group A2 by getting off to a fast start against a much-changed Portugal side that was missing talisman Cristiano Ronaldo.

Switzerland took the lead after just 57 seconds, with Silvan Widmer's tantalising delivery from the right picking out Haris Seferovi in the box. The Benfica striker displayed excellent awareness to aim his powerful header into the far corner of the net, just out of reach of the hapless Rui Patrcio.

After adjusting to the early shock, Portugal generated their finest chance of the first half 17 minutes in. Rben Neves nodded Bruno Fernandes' deep corner back into the danger zone, and Jonas Omlin skillfully pushed Danilo's powerful header away.
