Highlights

For the first game since 2019, Italy midfielder Verratti scored for PSG, while Sergio Ramos scored his first goal for the capital club.

PSG now has 53 points from 22 games after an own goal by Wout Faes and a goal by Danilo Pereira.

They are 11 points ahead of Nice, who beat Metz 2-0 at home earlier on Sunday, with Olympique de Marseille in third position two points behind but with a game in hand.

The setback dropped Reims to 14th place on 24 points, after a bright start at the Parc des Princes but fading after the first half.

PSG started with Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi, and Angel Di Maria up front, with Messi on the bench and back in the squad for the first time this year after contracting Covid during the break.

After half an hour, Mbappe had two clear chances, but it was Verratti who broke the deadlock with a low shot past Predrag Rajkovic just before halftime.

It became simpler for the hosts after Ramos doubled the lead from close range on 63 minutes after Andreaw Gravillon deflected Pereira's header into his path.

Shortly after Messi came on to replace Di Maria in the 64th minute, Verratti's attempt from Messi's assist was deflected into his own goal by Faes.

Pereira put the game away in the 76th minute when his thunderous drive deflected and flew past Rajkovic.

Racing Strasbourg dropped points in the race for a top-three finish as they were defeated 4-3 by Girondins de Bordeaux, who won thanks to a hat-trick by Hwang Ui-Jo.

Strasbourg is in fourth place, five points behind Marseille, with 35 points.

After a 2-1 loss at Clermont, Stade Rennais sit in fifth place with 34 points.
