Highlights

Lyon was languishing in a miserable 13th place prior to kick-off in a match that usually features two of Ligue 1's top three teams.

Several notable absentees were noted by both teams for the game. Jason Denayer (ankle), Thiago Mendes (Covid), Karl Toko Ekambi, Islam Slimani, and Tino Kadewere were all absent for Lyon (AFCON).

PSG had to do without Neymar due to an ankle injury, while Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler, and Gianluigi Donnarumma were all ruled out due to Covid.

Bruno Guimaraes' exquisite ball ripped open the PSG back line in the eighth minute, and Lucas Paqueta blasted home his ninth goal of an incredible season for the Brazilian.

PSG squandered the opportunities they created, with Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi, and Leandro Paredes all going close.

In the absence of their South American contingent, Mauricio Pochettino's side looked below-par for significant stretches of the game and lacked imagination. Lyon's lead may have been increased had it not been for PSG goalkeeper Keylor Navas' heroics in keeping Pochettino's side in the game.

With 14 minutes remaining, PSG equalized as Thilo Kehrer's deflected effort bobbled past Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Eight minutes from time, the capital club had a chance to win it, but Kylian Mbappé's free-kick hit the wall.

The victory extends Paris' lead at the top of the table to 11 points, while Lyon climbs two places to 11th. PSG will play Brest next, while Lyon will go to Troyes.
