Highlights

The first session was split into two halves, with both teams eager to take control. As the Eagles got the better of the opening 20 minutes, Allan McGregor, 40, rejected an early effort from Daichi Kamada and made a wonderful fingertip stop to deny Ansgar Knauff, before Joe Aribo fired just wide and John Lundstram's header was pushed over by Kevin Trapp as Rangers recovered.

Tuta lost his footing trying to react to Djibril Sow's header in the second half, and Aribo sprinted away to calmly slide Rangers in ahead. Rafael Borré pushed Filip Kosti's low cross beyond McGregor as Oliver Glasner's men refused to panic - a display of confidence from a team that has yet to lose in the competition this season.

Both teams pushed for a winner in normal and extra time, but neither had the cunning or calmness to break through and avoid a penalty shoot-out, with Ryan Kent coming near in the closing moments only for Trapp to preserve the match with an outstretched leg.

In the shoot-out, the Frankfurt goalkeeper would have the ultimate word, saving from Aaron Ramsey to give Borré the chance to secure the trophy for the German club and book them a spot in the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time.
