Highlights

Following strong victory on Matchday 1, both teams appeared to be in high spirits during an opening period devoid of chances in Vienna.

That would alter when Christoph Baumgartner intercepted a sweeping ball from home captain David Alaba and crossed for the unmarked Sasa Kalajdzic in front of goal, with the Stuttgart forward coming agonisingly close to scoring.

When a nice series of Danish passing allowed Rasmus Kristensen to cross from the edge of the penalty box, the ball deflected into the reach of Pierre-Emile Hjbjerg, who swept his team ahead with a merciless finish, Austria would rue squandering that chance.

Yussuf Poulsen would have made it two had Patrick Pentz not made a great close-range save, and Alaba almost scored directly from a corner, but Schmeichel tipped his ferocious attempt over the crossbar.

At halftime, Ralf Rangnick made three substitutions in an attempt to increase Denmark's threat, including bringing on Marko Arnautovic for his 100th cap in an attempt to offer more presence inside the penalty area.

When fellow substitute Michael Gregoritsch pounced on sloppy defending, Arnautovi was able to set up Xaver Schlager, who scored a superb equalize.

Christian Eriksen almost gave Denmark the lead with a magnificent long-range attempt that hit the post via Pentz's fingertips, and Arnautovic was denied by the woodwork three minutes later.

Jens Stryger, on the other hand, was not frustrated as he curled a beautiful winner past Pentz from distance with six minutes remaining to put Denmark three points ahead of their opponents at the top of Group A1.
