Tottenham 1-0 Wolves
On Saturday, Harry Kane's header in the second half prolonged Wolves' losing streak in the Premier League and kept Spurs' perfect record intact.
After avoiding a suspension for the incidents against Chelsea last week, Antonio Conte was on the sidelines, but his team struggled in the opening period. When he headed home from close range, Kane gladly delivered the game-changing goal that sent Spurs to the top of the table for, at the very least, a short while.
Spurs had a strong start, but Wolves gradually forced their way into the action. A half of half chances quickly changed to a half of close calls. Spurs were underwhelming despite Jose Sa's brilliant save on Kane's looping header. Before the halftime, some last-ditch defending prevented Matheus Nunes, a newcomer for Wolves, from taking advantage of some shoddy defending.
A spark in the second half was desperately needed after a dull and goalless first period, which Kane was pleased to deliver after 64 minutes. Ivan Perisic flicked on Son Heung-corner Min's at the near post, and Kane, much to the relief of the Spurs supporters, tapped in from close range. To finish the game and secure a crucial three points at home, the home team displayed tenacity and tenacity.
Next Sunday, August 28, Tottenham will play again in the Premier League when they travel to Nottingham Forest's City Ground for a 1630 p.m. kickoff. On the same day, Wolves will play host to Newcastle United, with kickoff scheduled for 1400 at Molineux.
Bournemouth 0-3 Arsenal
With a convincing 3-0 road victory against Bournemouth, Arsenal maintained its unblemished record after three games, highlighting the enormous difference in quality between the Gunners and the newly promoted team.
Because of Martin Odegaard of Arsenal's two early goals, the game appeared to be finished before the first half hour had passed. First, he completed a rebound following an amazing team move that was begun by a spectacular run by Gabriel Jesus. A few minutes later, Odegaard scored on a ball that entered the area as a result of a right-wing cross from Ben White.
William Saliba, an Arsenal center defender, scored the game's best goal with a curling second-half effort that found the upper right corner.
Bournemouth gained some pace after the interval following a lethargic first half, but Saliba's goal put an end to any hopes of a comeback as the Cherries lost their second straight shutout after being blanked by Manchester City 4-0.
Together with Manchester City, Arsenal is the only flawless team in the Premier League and currently sits atop the standings. On Sunday, Man City travels to Newcastle for their third game of the campaign.
Leeds United 3-0 Chelsea
The Chelsea goalkeeper gave up the initial goal after being fouled by Brenden Aaronson, which swung the game against Thomas Tuchel's team. When Rodrigo quickly extended the advantage with his head, the crowd went berserk.
Chelsea made personnel and formation changes, but Jack Harrison's close-range goal midway through the second half eliminated any chance of a comeback. Kalidou Koulibaly's red card for a second bookable offense late in the game added insult to Tuchel's suffering.
In place of the injured Patrick Bamford, Rodrigo has now scored four goals in three games, but the entire team embodied the ferocity of Leeds' play under Jesse Marsch. He has already established himself on this side with seven points from three games.
Newcastle 3-3 Manchester City
After Ilkay Gundogan's early goal, City had won 27 of their previous 28 games when scoring first, but that streak was in jeopardy as they fell 3-1 behind to an aggressive display and offensive intent that Eddie Howe called a "great comeback."
As City struggled to contain the winger's speed and power, Allan Saint-Maximin scored all three of Newcastle's goals. He first crossed for Miguel Almiron to level with a diving header that was initially disallowed for offside before a VAR intervention.
Saint-Maximin then connected with Callum Wilson for the second goal as the striker made a strong run forward. Wilson beat Ruben Dias before shooting past Ederson. After John Stones fouled Saint-Maximin, Kieran Trippier added a third with a beautiful free kick.
Erling Haaland scored from a corner to give City, who haven't lost in the Premier League since February, a chance to stay in the game. Then, Bernardo Silva completed a brilliant play from Kevin De Bruyne to tie the score once more.
Trippier was given a red card by referee Jarred Gillett for a high challenge on De Bruyne, but VAR intervened again and the decision was reduced to a booking. Neither team was able to make any breakthrough as the tense game at St James' Park concluded level.
