2022-2023 Premier League Week 2: Match Previews

Thu, 11/08/2022 - 08:02

Another amazing weekend with Premier League Week 2. Let's check our predictions for the upcoming matches!

Arsenal vs Leicester

Arsenal defeated Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park to open their season on a winning note. The Gunners enter their first home game of the campaign with strong optimism, a far cry from last season's tragedy.

Even though Leicester blew a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Brentford on Sunday at the King Power Stadium, there is some unfortunate about the deadlock. Although the Foxes did hit the woodwork twice in the draw, they still need to play better on Saturday.

The Gunners have won three straight league games at home, and they should continue that trend today.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Leicester

Manchester City vs Bournemouth

Last weekend's dominant effort by Rling Haaland against West Ham United enabled Manchester City to win all three games at the London Stadium. In order to keep their winning streak going against Bournemouth, they'll want to put on a show for their supporters.

Following their 2-0 victory over Aston Villa at Dean Court, Bournemouth enters the match against Manchester City with three points already under their belt. Although it will be difficult for Scott Parker's team to defeat the champions on Saturday, their strong start against Villa will give the Cherries confidence.

Despite Bournemouth's victory over Villa, it may be inconsequential because City, a much superior team than the Cherries, will likely try to make it two wins in a row in 2022–23.

Prediction: Manchester City 2-0 Bournemouth

Brentford vs Manchester United

Last weekend, after falling behind 2-0 at halftime against Leicester, Brentford fought back magnificently to salvage a draw. Even though they dropped this match last year, the Bees are certain they can win on Saturday night.

With a 2-1 loss to Brighton, Manchester United's first campaign under Erik ten Hag got off to a poor start. Additionally, Brentford has only lost one of its previous five home games, which does not bode well for United against a team that has lost six of its last seven league away games.

Ten Hag won't have been pleased with his team's performance against Brighton, and even if they might get a win, it's more probable that they'll tie Brentford for a point.

Prediction: Brentford 2-2 Manchester United

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

Liverpool will want to get back on track when they host Crystal Palace at Anfield after surrendering two points in a 2-2 draw with Fulham. Despite their lackluster performance in the season opener, the Reds are still considered heavy favorites to defeat the Eagles at home. In the home team, Mohamed Salah, who scored his first goal last weekend, will be the one to watch. Summer signing Darwin Nunez, who impressed during his debut, is almost expected to get his first Premier League start versus Palace.

It should be noted that Thiago, Curtis Jones, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all joined Diego Jota in the rehabilitation area. Additionally sidelined due to injuries are Konate and Tsimikas. The Eagles, on the other hand, performed poorly in a 2-0 loss to Arsenal, so we don't think they can ruin Liverpool's celebration at Anfield. For the visiting team, Olisse, McArthur, Tomkins, and Butland all have injuries.

Prediction: Liverpool 3-0 Crystal Palace
