Celta Vigo 1-4 Real Madrid
The second La Liga match of the campaign and Real Madrid's first after Casemiro's move to Manchester United took place at Vigo. For the second Sunday in a row, the two young French midfielders Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni started the game. Compared to their performance against Almeria, both were noticeably better. Overall, the team gave a superior performance, easily outperforming Celta in the second half in terms of both quality and physicality. Benzema, Modric, Vinicius, and Valverde all scored goals to end the game.
Atletico Madrid 0-2 Villarreal
The hosts handed the ball up carelessly at the back, and Pino made them pay with a beautiful finish into the far bottom-left corner in the 73rd minute. Deep into stoppage time, after Nahuel Molina was dismissed, Moreno added a second goal despite Diego Simeone's team's valiant efforts to get an equalizer. Atletico was upset that they were unable to build on their opening triumph at Getafe, while Villarreal's perfect LaLiga record remains.
Alvaro Morata ought to have given Atletico the lead in the first minute, but Geronimo Rulli palmed his volley away.
After 10 minutes, the visitors took control of the game and nearly scored when Pino shot just wide following strong work by Etienne Capoue and Giovani Lo Celso.
Ten minutes before halftime, Villarreal scored, but it was determined that Moreno's arm was struck by the ball as he finished it off after his initial shot had hit the crossbar.
With 20 minutes remaining, Matheus Cunha was in a prime scoring position but was unable to capitalize on a teaser cross from Angel Correa.
Moments later, a blunder at the back allowed Pino to get in and score a tricky angle goal to give the visitors the lead, making Cunha regret that missed opportunity.
When a Cunha header hit the crossbar and Carrasco glanced the rebound back toward the Villarreal goal, Rulli somehow managed to keep the ball out of the goal.
As time expired, Moreno added a second goal with a deft finish to secure all three points before Atletico defender Molina was shown a straight red card for a petulant push on Alex Baene.
Real Sociedad 1-4 Barcelona
Barcelona played ruthlessly in the second half to defeat Real Sociedad 1-4.
Robert Lewandowski's first goal for the Catalan giants just 43 seconds into the game gave the game a great start. Alex Balde, who was part of the Barca attack down the left, squared the ball to the Polish striker, who brutally placed it into the bottom corner.
La Real responded quickly, though, as Frenkie de Jong was robbed while in possession, and David Silva discovered Alexander Isak sneaking up behind. He was rescued when Eric Garcia's shot received a deflection and looped into the goal to tie the score.
Up until Ansu Fati came off the bench and put up Ousmane Dembele for a goal to retake the lead, Barca was being restrained.
The young player then rolled a first-time ball towards Lewandowski for him to score a chance that is easy for a player of his caliber after Pedri picked up Fati with another beautiful delivery.
When Lewandowski returned the favor by setting up Fati for goal number four, Barcelona further enhanced the outcome.
The victory lifts Xavi's team up to fifth place.
