2. Villarreal 0-2 Manchester United

On Tuesday night, Manchester United's caretaker manager, Michael Carrick, won his first game.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho scored both goals as United defeated Villarreal 2-0. It was the latter's debut goal for the club.

Over the weekend, the Reds parted ways with previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, leaving them with little time to prepare for their journey to Spain this week. However, that didn't stop them from gaining all three points and advancing to the Round of 16.

David de Gea was outstanding once again for United, keeping his team in the game and allowing them to win.

3. Barcelona 0-0 Benfica

Barcelona missed out on a wonderful opportunity to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages, and their European fate will be decided in the last group stage match courtesy of a 0-0 draw against Benfica at home. Barça had the better of the game for the majority of the 90 minutes and had a couple great chances, but they were unable to break down a resolute Portuguese defense. The Blaugrana must now win at Bayern Munich to escape relegation to the Europa League.
