Sampdoria 1-3 Juventus

Alvaro Morata's double helped Juventus beat Sampdoria 3-1 on Saturday, putting Massimiliano Allegri's fourth-placed side four points behind Serie A leaders AC Milan.

Maya Yoshida's own goal and Morata's wonderfully hit penalty propelled Juve to a 2-0 first-half lead, with Sampdoria proving no match for the visitors.

In the second half, though, the hosts took the game to Juve, winning a penalty following Adrien Rabiot's handball, but goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny made a brilliant save.

Six minutes from time, substitute Abdelhamid Sabiri's deflected free-kick brought Sampdoria back into the game, but Morata, Juve's Spanish striker, scored at the back post four minutes later to put the game to bed.

After a record of 21 games without a loss in all competitions, the Turin side now has 56 points from 29 games. They are now one point behind Napoli in third place, who play on Sunday, and have cut the distance on Milan, who play Empoli later on Saturday.

AC Milan 1-0 Empoli

AC Milan gained a much-needed three points thanks to Pierre Kalulu's goal, extending their lead at the top of the Serie A table.

The French defender's spectacular first-half strike was enough to separate the two teams, with Empoli failing to pose a serious threat throughout the game.

Stefano Pioli's squad is now five points clear of Inter Milan at the top of the table as a consequence of the result.

Udinese 1-1 AS Roma

After recovering a late, dramatic point against Udinese on Sunday, Roma ensured their pursuit for the Serie A European spots stayed on track.

Jose Mourinho's side have slipped out of the top four and will now compete for a place in the Europa League, but they were able to save face in extra time.

After Nahuel Molina opened the scoring in the first half, Lorenzo Pellegrini converted a cool penalty with 94 minutes on the clock to force a draw.

Torino 1-1 Inter Milan

Inter Milan's title ambitions were harmed by a 1-1 draw against Torino, but it could have been even worse if Alexis Sanchez hadn't recovered a point in injury time.

Torino took the lead in the 12th minute when defender Gleison Bremer slotted home from six yards to punish the champions' lack of concentration.

When VAR ruled out a potential penalty for a foul on Andrea Belotti, the hosts were denied the chance to expand their lead.

Inter had numerous opportunities to equalize but failed to take advantage of them, with Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez being the primary culprits. Sanchez, on the other hand, appeared at the last moment to save a tie.

Inter remains in third position, one point behind Napoli (who beat Verona 2-1 earlier on Sunday) and four points behind leaders AC Milan (who have a game in hand). Torino is still in 11th place.
