2021-2022 Premier League Week 23: Match Previews
Another amazing weekend with Premier League Week 23. Let's check our predictions for the upcoming matches!
Manchester United vs West Ham
Manchester United beat Brentford 3-1 on Wednesday night, but they had a lot of luck, like they have done so many times this season. In the first half, they were reliant on David de Gea, but they came back hard after the break to their credit.
Despite this, their opponents have had more shots than United in nine games in all competitions under Ralf Rangnick.
West Ham's four-game winning streak came to an end in a 3-2 loss to Leeds at home last time out. They fought back from behind twice to tie the game, only to go behind again and then waste a golden opportunity to snatch a point late in the game.
West Ham come to United knowing exactly what they are about under one of their past managers, while United is desperately searching for an identity. West Ham has already beaten United on the road this season, and another win, albeit their first in the Premier League at Old Trafford since 2007, is quite possible.
Prediction: Manchester United 1-2 West Ham
Southampton vs Manchester City
Southampton's five-game unbeaten run came to an end last weekend as they were defeated 3-1 by Wolves at Molineux. Saints had a strong home record this season, with Wolves being their only defeat at St. Mary's.
Manchester City beat championship rivals Chelsea 1-0 at home last weekend and are 11 points ahead of Liverpool in second place heading into Saturday's encounter. Pep Guardiola's team is unbeatable right now, having won 12 of their past 13 league games.
City has won four of their previous five league games at St. Mary's, and with their current form, they should win their 13th league game in a row on Saturday.
Prediction: Southampton 1-3 Manchester City
Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
The Premier League match between Crystal Palace and Liverpool will take place at Selhurst Park on Sunday. The Eagles come into the encounter on the back of a 1-1 draw against Brighton, and they'll be satisfied with a point from the Liverpool match as well. Wilfried Zaha, Jordan Ayew, and Cheikhou Kouayate are all on international duty, therefore a home victory is unlikely.
The Reds, on the other hand, are hoping to keep their title aspirations alive, and despite the fact that Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, and Naby Keita are all away at the Africa Cup of Nations, we're tempted to choose Jurgen Klopp's team, who put on a strong performance in a 3-0 win over Brentford.
Divock Origi is out with a knee injury, therefore Roberto Firmino is set to lead the attack for the visitors.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 0-1 Liverpool
Arsenal vs Burnley
Arsenal takes on Burnley at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, with the two teams having very different goals for the 2021/2022 season.
The Gunners are aiming for a Champions League spot, while the Clarets are battling to stay out of the Championship. Partey, Aubameyang, Pepe, and Elneny are all on international assignment, while Xhaka has been suspended.
We feel, however, that players like Saka and Lacazette will make life difficult for the opponent's defense.
Burnley will be missing key attacker Chris Wood, who joined Newcastle United earlier in January, and anything other than an easy home win would be a significant surprise considering their poor away record in the national league.
Injuries have forced Ashley Barnes and Maxwel Cornet to miss time for the away team. Arsenal won the first half of the season.
Prediction: Arsenal 3-1 Burnley
