Barcelona 4-2 Atlético Madrid
For around 30 minutes in the first half, Camp Nou witnessed what Xavi's Barcelona revolution could look like when all of the pieces are in place. The fact that the hosts' best period of the game coincided with one of Atleti's worst half-hours under Diego Simeone should not detract from an effervescent Barça performance that bodes well for the rest of the season in Catalonia and was enough to create a three-goal half-time cushion that Atleti only threatened to claw back.
Atleti took the lead thanks to a sweeping move finished by Yannick Carrasco, but Barça came back quickly thanks to Jordi Alba, Gavi, and the unlikely boot of Ronald Arajo, who blasted a rebound from a Gerard Piqué post-smacker past an uncharacteristically leaden-footed Jan Oblak to send the rafters soaring.
Simeone made a triple substitution after the break, and it had an instant impact, with Luis Suárez scoring on his former turf to give the visitors hope. Xavi reacted in kind, but Barça's plans were hampered when Alves was sent off for an unnecessary kick on Carrasco, resulting in the introduction of Sergio Dest and the end of Barça's readiness to attack.
Atleti, on the other hand, were unable to take advantage of their numerical advantage, with the hosts putting up a strong defensive effort. As it is, Simeone's team will compete in the Europa League next season, and Xavi's arrival at Camp Nou has had the desired effect on the devastation left behind by Ronald Koeman, a position that will only improve once Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is fully integrated and Ansu Fati is fit again.

Real Madrid 1-0 Granada
With a magnificent winner from the edge of the box to beat Granada 1-0, Marco Asensio put Real Madrid six points clear at the top of La Liga.
The midfielder has struggled for starts at times this season, but he has already scored six goals, including a classic left-footed curler that beat Granada goalkeeper Luis Maximiano, who had kept his team afloat until then.
Real Madrid threatened several times, but without the dual danger of injured Karim Benzema and suspended Vinicius – who have combined for 29 goals this season – they struggled to break down the visitors.
Carlos Neva came the closest to scoring in the first half, almost putting the ball past his own keeper but seeing his clearance rebound off the crossbar.
In Benzema's absence, Carlo Ancelotti chose to play without a recognizable centre-forward, and Toni Kroos, Rodrygo, Isco, and Asensio all came close in the first half.
Luka Jovic entered the game in the second period, and it changed everything. As Madrid attempted to go up the gears, Eden Hazard was given some playing time. After Asensio's goal, Hazard thought he had won a penalty, but the foul on him was just beyond the box.
Madrid deserved the win and did not have to suffer late on because Granada failed to create any chances in injury time.
