2021-2022 Champions League: Match Previews 8/12

Tue, 07/12/2021 - 04:07

2021-2022 Champions League group stage 8/12 prediction, previews and team news by Bingsport football experts.

1. Juventus vs Malmö FF

Because Chelsea has a better head-to-head record than Juventus, the Old Lady must win here and hope Zenit can help them out in Russia. The Italians have won their past two league games and six of their last eight at home.

Malmoe FF has been the whipping boys of Group F, and it is now impossible for them to qualify for European competition in the New Year. They have only one point from five games, but have won three of their previous four away games.

Nonetheless, Juventus should cruise to victory at home.

Prediction: Juventus 3-0 Malmö FF

2. Zenit vs Chelsea

Due to their superior head-to-head record over fourth-placed Malmo, Zenit has guaranteed third place regardless of what occurs on Wednesday.

Chelsea only needs to match Juventus' result to clinch first place, but Thomas Tuchel's side is stuck in a rut. Although their loss at the weekend was only their first in 13 games, warning signs had been present in recent weeks.

Chelsea has conceded in each of their previous three games, and Thomas Tuchel's side is starting to suffer from injury. While they remain favorites against Zenit on Wednesday, they should expect a difficult encounter.

Prediction: Zenit 0-1 Chelsea

3. Manchester United vs Young Boys

Manchester United have already clinched first place in Group F, but interim manager Ralf Rangnick will be looking to capitalise on a promising start. With a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, United kept their first clean sheet at Old Trafford since April.

Last time out, Young Boys' hopes of qualifying for the knockout stage were dashed as they conceded in the 88th minute to Atalanta. They are currently fourth in Group F, but a win away to United will see them overtake Atalanta into third if the Italian club loses to Villarreal.

Young Boys should be encouraged by the fact that they have already beaten United in this group stage campaign, but they should prepare to encounter a different side now that Ralf Rangnick has taken over as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's replacement. Rangnick wants United to keep consecutive clean sheets for the first time at Old Trafford since October 2020.

Prediction: Manchester United 1-0 Young Boys
