Following two league wins to start 2022, including their best win of the season last weekend, Borussia Dortmund has reduced the deficit at the top to "just" six points.

Dortmund's away form has been an issue, with four league defeats already, and BVB also suffered a humiliating German Cup exit in midweek at second-tier St.Pauli.

Last weekend, Hoffenheim dropped their first game in eight, yet they have a league-best 15 points from losing situations this season.

Dortmund would have had a full day of recuperation after their German Cup humiliation on Tuesday, whereas Hoffenheim were knocked out the next evening.

Dortmund can seal the points with a goal or two from Erling "Machine" Haaland, who has a minor advantage in terms of rest.

With a merciless 4-0 win in Koln last weekend, Bayern Munich regained their six-point advantage at the top of the Bundesliga. They have now scored in 66 consecutive Bundesliga games, which is a new Bundesliga record.

Robert Lewandowski will fancy his chances of adding to his tally of 23 league goals for the season after achieving 300 league goals last weekend with his 14th Bundesliga hat-trick.

Hertha Berlin overcame second-placed Borussia Dortmund before the winter break, but the perennial champions will be a completely different challenge.

Bayern had an unusually long week to prepare for this game after their early cup departure, whereas Hertha suffered a humiliating German Cup defeat to local rivals Union in midweek. Anything less than a comfortable Bayern victory would be a huge shock.
