Bayern Munich continue to show their superb form in the Bundesliga while Dortmund are reducing the point gap with the leaders.

Bayern completed a perfect Champions League group-stage campaign earlier this month with a 3-0 win over Barcelona, and they have since added two more Bundesliga victories, defeating Mainz 2-1 on December 11 and Stuttgart 5-0 on Tuesday night.

Julian Nagelsmann's team extended their advantage at the top of the table to nine points with a treble from Serge Gnabry and two goals from Robert Lewandowski at Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Second-placed Dortmund now have a game in hand on Bayern, but the German champions are on a roll, having won their previous four league games since losing 2-1 at Augsburg on November 19 against Arminia Bielefeld, Dortmund, Mainz, and Stuttgart.

Der FCB has not been flawless in the Bundesliga this season, but they are comfortably in first place, and it will take an extraordinary effort to prevent them from earning a 10th league title in a succession.

In fact, Florian Kohfeldt's side has lost six consecutive games in all competitions, and they haven't won since a 1-0 win over Augsburg in the Bundesliga at the start of November.

They have dropped to 11th place in the table after four straight league losses to Dortmund, Mainz, Stuttgart, and Koln, and are only four points ahead of Augsburg, who have a game in hand.

Wolfsburg's Champions League group-stage campaign similarly ended in disappointment, with the team finishing bottom of Group G with five points after losing their final two games to Sevilla and Lille.

Wolves finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, losing only seven of their 34 games, but they have already lost eight league games this season and appear to be out of contention for a top-four spot at this point.
